The WorkPath Patient Portal allows patients to retrieve reports directly from the lab. This article explains how patients can retrieve results via this portal. Note that this functionality is an add-on item and is not enabled by default. If you need this functionality please email Pathagility Support.
When the patient portal is enabled, the system allows the lab to enter patient level distribution rules. These rules, typically with email endpoints, will send patients a unique URL that can be used to access a report. This URL will look similar to :
https://portal.example.com/direct_portal/report/44b30331e37482313d/
When the recipient/patient clicks this link, the system will return a secondary validation form that will require the patient to enter his or her date of birth and social security number (last 4 digits only). After the patient has entered this information, the system will present the user with the final report.
Do note that the distribution message sent can be overridden by using a custom distribution template. This requires a system level customization and must be scheduled by emailing Pathagility Support.
The patient portal also allows a patient to go directly to a static URL to retrieve reports. This URL will look similar to :
When this URL is accessed the system will return a validation form that will require the patient to enter his or her email address, date of birth, and social security number (last 4 digits only). After the patient has entered this information, all of the reports that belong to the patient will be available for download.
The system allows the lab to override the social security number with a serial number of their choosing. This is a universal change and is something that has to be configured by the Pathagility Team. Once enabled, the system will no longer ask the patient for his or her social security number; the user will instead be prompted for the custom security number in its place. This serial number must be entered by the lab into the system at the point of accessioning.
As mentioned above, the system forces the end user to authenticate before receiving reports. If authentication fails, the system will return a status message that sates why the authentication process failed. The status messages contain issue codes to help the lab identify why the authentication failed. Below is a list of these codes and their underlying meaning:
